Barack Obama Is Pleased With Sony’s Decision To Release ‘The Interview’

Last week, when Sony decided to cancel The Interview‘s Christmas Day release as a precaution in the face of terrorist threats from hackers, President Obama wasn’t very happy. In a nutshell, his reaction went along the lines of ‘nobody thought to ask me first?’ He addressed these concerns at his annual year-end press conference.
Well, not only has Sony decided that The Interview will still be released, but the film will actually be released tomorrow at select theaters–you can find out where you can catch Seth Rogen and James Franco‘s highly controversial new film here. Naturally, now that Sony has decided to, you know, not negotiate or bow in the face of terrorists, the president is quite pleased with his witty studio executives. A short White House statement reads:
The president applauds Sony’s decision to authorize screenings of the film. As the president made clear, we’re a country that believes in free speech and the right of artistic expression. The decision made by Sony and participating theaters allows people to make their own choices about the film and we welcome that outcome.
Applauds?! You go, Sony!
