Glow in the dark bike path might come to Toronto
esign firm in the Netherlands wants to bring something enchanting to Toronto.
But here’s the awesome news: The firm now wants to bring a similar path to Toronto in time for the 2015 Pan American Games. Dan Roosegaarde, the designer behind the project, said his firm has already spoken with city hall about the idea, but no contract has been signed. For now, all we can do is hope.
The path works much in the same way any ordinary glow-in-the-dark toy would. Luminous, rock-like objects gather light during the day, which then causes them to glow after the sun goes down. The project cost about $1 million in public money in The Netherlands, but does it ever seem worth it:
We recently published a compilation of ideas from other countries we wished could come to Canada, and this technology was first on the list. Classic cause and effect journalism, folks.
