Big Sean's "I Decided" Debuts Atop Billboard 200, Surpasses Sales Projections

Big Sean has exceeded expectations with his fourth studio album.

Big Sean has earned his second #1 album on the Billboard 200 with I Decided, Billboard revealed Sunday. The Detroit rapper's fourth studio album moved 151,000 equivalent album units in its first week, surpassing Billboard's original projections of 120,000 and making it his second consecutive solo album to top the charts. 65,000 units of the total figure are attributed to traditional album sales.

The album falls slightly short of Sean's 2015 release, Dark Sky Paradise's first week, which topped out at 173,000 equivalent album units. 

The album replaces Migos' sophomore album CULTURE at the top of the Billboard 200. Last week, Migos earned their first #1 album with 131,000 in equivalent album sales. The album moved 44,000 units traditionally and 10,000 in track equivalent album units. Streaming made up for the remaining 59% of the total figure.

Sean is looking at a #1 album next week.

Big Sean's fourth studio album, I Decided, is projected to debut at the top of the Billboard 200 next week, according to Hits Daily Double. According to the early numbers, the album is expected to sell 120-130,000 in total, with 60-65,000 of those units made up of traditional sales.

Sean scored his first #1 debut with 2015's Dark Sky Paradise, which moved 173,000 units in total and 139,000 in pure sales.

If the projections are correct, Sean will replace Migos sophomore album CULTURE atop the charts. Migos' album put up 131,000 in sales with streams making of 59% of the total.

Detroit rap star Big Sean finally seems poised to make the full leap into rap’s A-list with his new album I Decided., a wordy cluster of shit-talk and introspective musings. We’ve already posted the hit “Bounce Back,” as well as the early tracks “Moves” and “Halfway Off The Balcony.” The album has guest appearances from Migos, Starrah, Jeremih, The-Dream, Sean’s Twenty88 partner Jhené Aiko, and a full-rant-mode Eminem — making rape jokes and rapping about killing Donald Trump. (Eminem has been trending all night just based on the strength of his “No Favors” guest verse.) The album also has some cover art that reminds me of It Follows, the best Detroit-set horror movie of recent years. (It’s not that much better than Don’t Breathe, but it is better.) Big Sean Reveals "I Decided." Album Tracklist Featuring Eminem, Migos & Jhené Aiko

As Big Sean’s I Decided. album inches closer to its February 3 release, the Detroit rapper shared the project’s tracklist on Instagram today (January 30).

I Decided. is made up of 14 tracks. Besides the two singles that Big Sean took on solo, “Bounce Back” and “Moves,” the tracklist is filled with stellar guest features.

Eminem appears, as promised, on a track called “No Favors” and The-Dream will lend his vocals to “Sunday Morning Jetpack.” Migos will show up on “Sacrifices” and Jeremih joins in on “Light” while Sean Don reunites with Jhené Aiko for a TWENTY88 track “Same Time Pt. 1.” The album closes out with “Bigger Than Me” with Starrah and the Flint Chozen Choir, who Sean said is his tribute to the city beyond financial donations in the midst of the water crisis.

Big Sean announced his next album is titled I Decided and it’s set to drop right before Valentine’s Day. The project is available now for iTunes pre-order.

According to the page, I Decided is made up of 14 tracks, most of which are a mystery. But the follow-up to Dark Sky Paradise will include the single “Bounce Back.” The Detroit rapper also shared a new song that will be on his fourth studio album, “Moves.”

Sean Don recently said he and Jhené Aiko are working on a sequel to Twenty88 as well.
