Pharrell & Robin Thicke Earned A Combined $5 Million From "Blurred Lines"

The Marvin Gaye family lawsuit over "Blurred Lines" has revealed the total earnings from the song.

If you think the music industry is dying, a look at the revenue from Robin Thicke's "Blurred Lines" may change your mind. The ongoing lawsuit from Marvin Gaye's family has already unveiled secrets of the recording process (bottom line: Pharrell did everything), and now it's given us a look at the total earnings of the song.
While the classic industry belief is that the label takes close to all the proceeds made from music, the artists actually made a pretty huge chunk of cash this time around. According to Business InsiderT.I. pulled in $700,000 from sales, while Pharrell and Thicke split a cool $5 million.
With that being said, the labels did net the majority of the earnings, with Interscope Records, Universal Music Group, and Star Trak (yep, more money in Williams' pocket) taking in the remainder of the $16,675,690 total.

Marvin Gaye's estate is currently fighting for a cut of the writing credits, we'll keep you posted on the outcome of the suit.
