FASHION: Lil Yachty Spent $35K On Rainbow-Colored Grill He Sported At Grammys

Lil Yachty Spent $35K On Rainbow-Colored Grill He Sported At Grammys

Lil Yachty spent a small fortune on his fresh new grill.

Lil Yachty has arguably one of the freshest styles in the A right now. The 19-year-old attended the 59th annual Grammy Awards sporting a rainbow-colored grill Sunday. What appeared like Skittles at a glance were in fact a small collection of gemstones worth $35,000.
TMZ reports that King Boat reached out to Icebox Diamonds and Watches to craft this jewel worth more than what most women spend on designer gowns for the event. Each tooth held a different jewel -- red rubies, white, blue and yellow diamonds, and green emeralds.
Icebox said a representative hopped on a plane to L.A. on Sunday to deliver the handmade item to Yachty hours before Grammy night. He and D.R.A.M.'s "Broccoli" was nominated for Best Rap/Sung Performance but lost to Drake's "Hotline Bling."

Chance keeps winning.

The incredible glow up of Chance the Rapper continued Sunday night at the 59th Grammys. Chance took home Best Rap Performance for “No Problem,” Best New Artist, and Best Rap Album for Coloring Book. The cherry on top: his performance of “How Great” and “All We Got" with Kirk Franklin and a full gospel choir.
Not only is Chance currently basking in the glory of last night's victories, he is already reaping quantifiable rewards. According to The Boombox, his Spotify streaming numbers have increased 206 percent since the Grammys. "How Great" streams skyrocketed by 461 percent one hour after Chance took the stage.
He wasn't the only artist to receive a streaming boost from the Grammys: Streams of A Tribe Called Quest‘s “We The People” increased 441 after they performed the track with Anderson .Paak and Busta Rhymes.

GRAMMYS: Beyonce's Insanely Beautiful Grammys Performance

Beyonce's Insanely Beautiful Grammys Performance

Beyonce slays as always.

Beyonce has made the Grammys her safe space once again, putting on a showstopping performance despite her advanced stage of twins pregnancy. Clocking in around eight minutes, the Queen of Pop put on a highly theatrical and intricate show, one that no other artist will even nearly match. She performed two songs off her latest album Lemonade, “Love Drought” and “Sandcastles.”
Beyonce has already won two awards tonight, Best Urban Contemporary Album for Lemonade and Best Music Video for "Formation."
Check out Beyonce's incredible performance below, and let us know your thoughts in the comments section. Does the Queen need all these theatrics, or does the music itself carry the rest?

INTERVIEW: Kanye Explains His Remarks On Beck And The Grammys, Reveals Plans To Work With Taylor Swift

Kanye Explains His Remarks On Beck And The Grammys, Reveals Plans To Work With Taylor Swift

Kanye West appeared on "On Air with Ryan Seacrest" this morning, where he expanded on his actions at The Grammys and some of his controversial remarks that followed.

After Beck was announced the winner of Album of the Year, the final award of the night, at last weekend's Grammys, Kanye rushed the stage but stopped himself before he reached the mic; a far less dramatic stunt than when he famously interrupted Taylor Swift at the 2009 VMAs. Still, many think Kanye's intentions were disrespectful, especially as he said, "Beck needs to respect artistry" during an interview after the Awards. He now tells Seacrest his comments were misguided--"obviously Beck is one of the most respected artists and respects artistry."
'Ye says he was beckoned on stage by a voice in his head and stopped short because he didn't want to take away any of Beck's spotlight. He goes on: "Beck is one of the nicest guys and one of the most respected musicians in the game." It should be noted that, apparently, Beck wasn't dismayed by Kanye's actions, telling US Weekly: "I was just so excited he was coming up."
Kanye tells Seacrest that racism played no part in his actions: "I also wanted to stress to people that it’s not a black or white thing at all ... We are one race. We are the human race, period."
Surprisingly enough, Kanye says that Taylor Swift, the woman who's spotlight he stole in 2009, approached him after the show and said he was right to rush the stage in protest of Beyonce's snub. What's more, he says he and Taylor are planning to make music together: "...we're definitely going to go in. Any artist with an amazing point of view, perspective, fan base, I’m down to get in the studio and work."
In non-Grammy related talk, Yeezy spoke on working with Paul McCartney, as well as on the upcoming release of his adidas Yeezy Boosts. There will be a fashion show accompanying the release, which will be streamed in 40 locations across the world. Adidas will initially release 9,000 pairs of the shoe.

NEWS: iLoveMakonnen Has Some Huge Features Planned For His Debut Album

iLoveMakonnen Has Some Huge Features Planned For His Debut Album

iLoveMakonnen says Drake, Snoop Dogg and Rihanna will feature on his debut album. He's also been working with Diplo and Skrillex.

Last year was iLoveMakonnen's breakout year, earning him a Grammy nomination for the Drake version of "Tuesday." On the red carpet, he's asked about his debut album, which he says should come out in June or July. If what he said holds true, Makonnen definitely won't go down as a one-hit wonder.
First, Makonnen says he's been working with Diplo and Skrillex, so expect the project to contain a few EDM bangers. As you can see in the above photo, Makonnen was a special guest at Diplo and Skrillex's MSG NYE party. On the rap side, he mentions his Drake, his OVO boss, and Snoop Dogg, who recently had Makonnen on his GGN talk show. He then casually name-drops Rihanna, saying they haven't hit the studio yet, but they've been working on ideas.
With a guestlist like this, anticipation is already sky-high for Makonnen's debut. Watch the interview below.

NEWS: Kanye West Crashes Stage During Beck's Acceptance Speech, Decides To Let Him Finish [Update: Kanye Goes Off On E!]

Kanye West Crashes Stage During Beck's Acceptance Speech, Decides To Let Him Finish [Update: Kanye Goes Off On E!]

Kanye West almost pulled a Kanye during Beck's "Album Of The Year" acceptance speech.

Kanye West took the stage at the Grammys for the first time in six years tonight, and while he spent the majority of the show without causing any kind of scene, when Beck beat out Beyonce for album of the year, he decided to pull one of his classic moves -- to a point.
The rapper ran up on stage, much as he did for the infamous Taylor Swift interruption, but instead of giving the world a piece of his mind regarding Yonce's talent, he simply smiled and made his way back to his seat.
Nevertheless, we got the point, and nobody's feelings were hurt. Watch the hilarious moment go down in Vine form below.

[Update: Kanye Goes Off On E!]

It seems as though Kanye's fake Beck interruption may have been a little less light-hearted than we thought. Following the Grammys, Ye did a live interview with E!, and he was pretty heated about Beyonce's loss of album of the year.

The interview has yet to make its way online, but clips and quotes have appeared on Vine and Twitter, where Ye says "Beck needs to respect artistry. He should've given his award to Beyonce," and "I'm fighting for creativity".

Check out a Vine from the interview below, we'll update you when the full clip makes its way online.

NEWS: Fatal Shooting Occurs Outside Schoolboy Q's Pre-Grammy Party

Fatal Shooting Occurs Outside Schoolboy Q's Pre-Grammy Party

A man was fatally shot just outside of Schoolboy Q's pre-grammy party in L.A. last night.

Before and after awards shows, L.A.'s club scene tends to get a little too turnt. Last year, Suge Knight caught six bullets at Chris Brown's pre-VMA party, shots were fired outside of a post-BET Awards party, and now it looks like there was also some commotion outside of Schoolboy Q's pre-Grammy event last night. While Q hosted the party at the city's Supperclub, outside a man shot another in the head, fatally wounding him.
According to TMZ, it's unclear whether or not the two men had been inside the club that night, but both have been linked to gangs. Also inside the club at the time were DJ PaulWiz Khalifa and Snoop Dogg.
Stay tuned for updates, and check out a flyer for the event below.

INTERVIEWS: Young Thug: What Drugs Sound Like

Young Thug: What Drugs Sound Like

Image from [via]

This emerging Atlanta rap weirdo's first hit was called "Stoner" for a reason. And his ecstatic singsong raps have only gotten trippier on two must-download mixtapes: Black Portland and Rich Gang: Tha Tour Part 1

GQ: Are you a music lifer?
Young Thug: Yeah, I'ma be here forever. I don't want to rap forever. But I want to be rich forever.

Why not rap forever?
I don't want to be 50 years old and rapping, man. I'm pretty sure nobody wants to do that. I'm pretty sure Jay Z don't wanna rap right now.

Why is it such a young man's game?
If you're 30, 40 years old, you're not getting listened to by minors. Like, Jay Z has some of the sickest lyrics ever, but I would never buy his CD, just because of my age and because of his age. By the time I turn that old, I ain't gonna be doing what he's doing.

What is the next step for you?
I hope to be like Bill Gates, bro. With all the money in the world. Like Wayne, someday I want one of those kind of careers. Or Michael Jackson.

At what age do you drop the "Young" from your name?
I don't think I'm gonna drop it, 'cause I want to be forever young. But if I had to...

What would you change it to?
My little niece always calls me Jeff the Rapper, so I might change it to that.

via Google

Next month, the Grammy Museum in Los Angeles will recognize the work of the late Tupac Shakur with an entire exhibit dedicated to his career. The "All Eyez On Me: The Writings of Tupac Shakur" exhibit will feature pieces from his life that includes the Versace suit he wore to the 1996 Grammys and studio notes from his first recording session after being released in prison. Additionally, the display will feature handwritten notes from Tupac, as well as lyrics, poemsinterviews, and performances, all of which were donated by Shakur's estate run by his mother, Afeni Shakur.
“It means a lot to me that Bob Santelli and the Grammy Museum have chosen to honor my son with their upcoming exhibit of his works,” Afeni Shakur said in a statement. “Tupac's writings are an honest reflection of his passions for, and about life.  His timeless messages have instilled hope for those who have little, and for others, they serve as a catalyst for change. His words continue to motivate and inspire new generations.” The exhibit will run from Feb. 2 through Apr. 22.
