NEWS: Pharrell & Robin Thicke Earned A Combined $5 Million From "Blurred Lines"

Pharrell & Robin Thicke Earned A Combined $5 Million From "Blurred Lines"

The Marvin Gaye family lawsuit over "Blurred Lines" has revealed the total earnings from the song.

If you think the music industry is dying, a look at the revenue from Robin Thicke's "Blurred Lines" may change your mind. The ongoing lawsuit from Marvin Gaye's family has already unveiled secrets of the recording process (bottom line: Pharrell did everything), and now it's given us a look at the total earnings of the song.
While the classic industry belief is that the label takes close to all the proceeds made from music, the artists actually made a pretty huge chunk of cash this time around. According to Business InsiderT.I. pulled in $700,000 from sales, while Pharrell and Thicke split a cool $5 million.
With that being said, the labels did net the majority of the earnings, with Interscope Records, Universal Music Group, and Star Trak (yep, more money in Williams' pocket) taking in the remainder of the $16,675,690 total.

Marvin Gaye's estate is currently fighting for a cut of the writing credits, we'll keep you posted on the outcome of the suit.

Pharrell Makes a Surprise Appearance at the adidas Originals Pop Up

During an adidas event last night in Soho, collaborator and GRAMMY winner Pharrell Williams stopped by to give a crowd of high school artists the surprise of a lifetime. The students were invited to adidas' pop up space to customize the ubiquitous Superstar, the model of Pharrell's upcoming collaboration with the three stripes, which is set to drop in March. Pharrell spoke to the students about the importance of exercising creativity, and of course, posed for some pictures as well. Complex was able to catch up with him after the event and discuss how adidas has been an ideal brand to work with, as well as how they've positioned themselves within the world of fashion. Pharrell also expressed the importance of the Internet and how it's helping to create a future for talented young artists.

NEWS: Pharrell Gets His Own Star On The Hollywood Walk Of Fame

Pharrell Gets His Own Star On The Hollywood Walk Of Fame

Pharrell now has a star that commemorates his achievements on the Hollywood Walk Of Fame.

Producer, singer, rapper, songwriter, film-scorer -- these are just some of the many hats that Pharrell Williams wears (along with the atrocious actual hat he's been favoring lately). Today, the music star quite literally cemented his place in pop culture by being awarded one of the coveted stars on the Hollywood Walk Of Fame.
With Ellen Degeneres presenting the award, Skateboard P became the man with the 2,537th star on the famed avenue. In his speech, he thanked teachers that helped foster his creativity, as well as Ellen herself, who Pharrell said played "Happy" before any of the radio stations picked it up. Watch the ceremony below.
