Someone Is Selling A “Human Flesh” Leather Jacket On Etsy For Almost $2,000
There are some people out there who just have to have a seriously macabre outlook on fashion, and at times, it can go a little bit beyond casual gothwear. In this case, a group of fashion outfitters produced a “human flesh” leather jacket. And, the more you learn about the jacket, the more bizarre the story gets. Here’s the scoop on this very, very bizarre work of fashion design.
1.
Kayla Arena and Toby Barron are not your average fashion designers. The duo is known for being extremely talented at creating special effects horror props. Many of their creations have been called “movie-ready.” The two designers are based out of Brisbane, Australia. And, they seem to have taken a liking to human leather projects...
2.
Their shockingly good design skills have recently pushed the limits of what’s considered fashion and what’s considered just plain creepy. The two had created a line of “serial killer” inspired clothing, accessories, and even furniture. When people saw what they were offering, it quickly made international headlines.
3.
This is particularly true of their “Ed Gein” jacket. The jacket is handmade and created to look like it’s made out of human faces. It was named after serial killer Ed Gein, who was arrested after his clothing made out of human leather was discovered. Horror movie fans might recognize the name, since he’s the inspiration for Leatherface - a classic horror movie antagonist.
4.
Though it looks like it’s been made out of human faces, you dob’t have to worry about having police approach you about missing bodies. Arena and Barron didn’t use human skin for this grotesque jacket. Rather, it’s primarily made out of regular, standard-issue cattle leather.
5.
In order to get the details right, they had to layer highly detailed, painted materials onto of the leather jacket. This was done by sewing silicone and latex onto the jacket base, and then working to sculpt everything into a more “human-like” appearance. The overall effect can only be described as spooky and serial killer-esque.
6.
We’re guessing that similar methods were used to make the other “goodies” in their shop. The company also had Ed Gein inspired hats, boots, and even a bra. If you’re the type of serial killer who feels the need to add some cozy shreds of humanity in your home’s ambiance, there’s more good news…
7.
The jacket itself costs about $1200 US dollars. Other items run the gamut from $75 for a simple coin purse to a staggering $2,493 for a chair. So, if you’re a wannabe serial killer who has a baller bank account, checking out their shop is definitely a good way to treat yourself nicely.
