Amnesia line-up includes Shock G, Digital Underground, Melle Mel & more
Formed in the late 1980s, The Digital Underground are known for their many hip-hop classics including “The Humpty Dance,” “Kiss Me (and I’ll Kiss You Back),” and “Doowutchyalike.” Led by Shock G, and his alter-ego, Humpty Hump, their songs were sure-fire party starters. The group was known for their high-energy shows, as well as launching the career of the iconic Tupac Shakur.
R&B and Disco Queen, Evelyn “Champagne” King is a certified music legend. With classic singles such as “Love Come Down,” and “Shame,” her music is timeless, and her career spans more than 30 years.
The surprise performance element of The Anniversary is what truly sets the evening apart. The first ever anniversary performance in 2002 featured Canadian hip-hop legend Maestro Fresh Wes who whipped the crowd of 1500 patrons into a frenzy. Since then, Amnesia has hosted an impressive, internationally known list of acts including freestyle, dance and house acts Cece Peniston, Lisa Lisa, Crystal Waters, Ten City and The Jets, R&B icons Bell Biv Devoe (BBD), SWV, Karyn White and Dru Hill, and hip-hop heavyweights such as MC Lyte, Big Daddy Kane, Rob Base and Naughty By Nature. Canadian icons such as Kardinal Offishall, Saukrates, Dream Warriors and Michie Mee, and dance agencies Do Dat and Bag Of Trixx have been there every step of the way. Anticipation is high for the 15 year celebration, which expects to attract close to 3,000 patrons.
As part of the Amnesia 15 Year Anniversary festivities, for the first time ever, Amnesia will take place in New York, invading “the longest running Friday-Night Dance Party in NYC history, The Freedom Party® NYC, on Friday, December 12 at Santos Party House.
